My Way
長年の間に溜まったPCファイルを掃除していると、懐かしい文書や写真に行き当たり、しばしたたずんでしまうことがよくある。掃除しているのか思い出を探り出しているのか分からなくなる一瞬である。
いまもそんな記憶にぶつかった。ポールアンカとフランクシナトラの"My Way"である。掃除中に見つけたのは布施明が歌うMy Wayで昨年の紅白でかもしれないが、PCに録画したものがあった。この録画記録が懐かしいのではない。思い出したのは、十数年前、最初の駐在を終えて帰国するときのことである。
別れにはある種の感慨がある。喜びと苦しみを分かちあった同僚・部下たちに書き残したのがこの詩であった。最後の日に、自室の白板一杯に書き残したのが昨日のように思い出された。その当時の私の心情に一番近いと思って選んだ詩であった。
いま布施明が歌う日本語詞をみると、じつに日本人の心に訴えかけるような訳詞で感心した。中島潤・片桐和子両氏の訳詞である。
今 船出が近づくこの時に
